A quick look at Mohala Johnson and Her take on art.
Transported from the small Hawaiian island of Kauai to the middle of land locked Wyoming; Mohala finds ways to enjoy and embrace her surroundings. While in WY during the cold winter months Mohala took up painting and quickly found that her bright color combinations were enjoyed by others. With this in mind she set out to make art for the masses to enjoy. Finger painting is her preferred method and most of the artwork on display today was done in this manner.
Introduce your living space to one of these brightly colored explosions of life. Mohala takes great pride in her paintings and at this time only offers a select few as printed duplicates ( available through her online shop ). You may not have wall space for the bigger pieces so mayhaps you’d like to see her growing collection of abstract magnets. All refrigerator tested and guaranteed to stick. Mo’s art is a great way to experience a "MoRiginal Moment" in your daily life.
For Mo painting is a way to add more color to the world. Being from Hawaii she is used to seeing a wide array of colors in everyday life, now landlocked in Wyoming she uses painting as a way to expand the colors around her. Creating these colorful kaleidoscopic creations gives her joy and she can also see that joy reflected on the faces of others upon viewing her work. They may not understand it but they surely can enjoy the sense of happiness that these creations emit.
Currently Mo paints in sizes from 2x2 to 32x20 inches. It really depends on her mood and the amount of time she has to paint. Magnets and coasters are her current fixation, as well as the application of clear resin.
Each painting is created within its own idea. Inspirations come in the strangest forms, sparking some idea which Mo then takes and gives a life. She uses her fingers, her nails, toothpicks, popsicle sticks, spoons, forks, knives, rocks, toothbrushes and sometimes (on a very rare occasion) an actual paint brush. Mainly her fingers are the utensils used to bring these designs to the real world where they can inspire and intrigue others.
If you asked Mo to tell you what her style of painting is, she would simply say:
“They are MoRiginals; nothing more, nothing less”
